Pitching
The annual pitching - a public presentation of scripts to potential investors - will be held , as part of The 15th Israeli Documentary Screen Market
May 26 - June 2, 2013,in Tel Aviv.
Pitching will be held on Wednesday - Thursday, 29 - 30 May, 2013.

Pitching is designed to enrich and encourage Israeli documentary filmmakers and promoting cooperation between them and the TV networks and producers from the world.
The event is meant to expand and advance Israeli independent documentary makers and facilitate collaboration of Israeli documenters with TV networks and producers from around the world. The two-day pitching takes place every spring, as part of COPRO - The Israeli Documentary Screen Market, where the Israeli filmmakers take the podium when presenting their projects to a panel of overseas broadcasting networks.
In its 15 years of operation, the Co-Productions Forum has made a good name for itself as an important and successful event on the global documentary-making map, attracting a regular assortment of international TV directors who come here year after year in scouting for interesting projects. who come here year after year in scouting for interesting projects. To date, some 218 co-productions, totalling around €7.8 million, were made through the Market conventions.

The Process
The event begins with producers and directors submitting their proposed documentaries that are forwarded to Israeli and European lectors for selection.
Eight weeks prior to the pitching session we hold a Master Class delivered by representatives from Israel and abroad, coaching the filmmakers how to push their ideas and how to translate and local culture substances so they are comprehended by audiences throughout the world. This is followed by classes on presentation in this particular format.
A project catalog is published for the event, and a panel of representatives from TV networks across the world is invited.
The Pitching Session: the selected filmmakers present their projects to the panel and an audience of invited professionals. Each presentation lasts around 15 minutes (about 8 minutes presentation, and about 7 more for the panel inquiries), preceded by a preview of the documentaries main character, chosen footage or footage of the director’s previous work.
Some presentations are accompanied by representatives from an Israeli broadcasting entity or a foundation who have already decided to collaborate in producing the project.
The event is emceed by Paterson Ferns, a top Canadian producer and a co-designer of this format for fund-raising presentations. The event and its preliminary prep classes (master-class and simulation sessions) are held in English. Potential pitchers are advised to ensure good and accurate translation of their texts into English.
One-on-One Meetings: Following the Pitching Forum, meetings will be held between foreign executives. producers and Israeli film makers who presented at the Forum, in order to translate the producers’ initial interest into the first step towards a real contract.
