Who doesn’t love a falafel? Imagine an experience so universal it has the power to warm a debate about politics and religion and create harmony amongst complete strangers. But can one man use a highly beloved food to solve the age-old conflicts in the Middle East? From the depths of the Holy Land, Falafelism, Give Peace a Change! is a wild adventure that takes Moroccan born filmmaker, Ari A. Cohen to the far reaches of pita heaven to examine the true depth of the falafel sandwich, and its role as a doorway to the higher quest for human co-existence. Transfixed tell the story of an unconventional romance. Martine Stonehouse and John Gelmon are engaged and living with each other – and both living with Asperger Syndrome. Martine is a transsexual preparing for surgery.
But before they can fulfill their dream of marriage, they will have to overcome Martine’s battle to lose weight, John’s stubborn-mindedness, medical complications, financial woes, and a care to pull off the ultimate wedding – one a simultaneously celebrates and smashes down convention, one that is as unique and compelling as they are.

CoPro 13 is working with Hot Docs to organize a comparable Israeli delegation to attend Hot Docs 2012.
CoPro and Hot Docs share a strong belief that such an exchange of delegations will boost Israeli-Canadian co-productions and reinforce the benefits of the Co-Production Treaty between our two countries.
This initiative has been launched by Orna Yarmut, Head of CoPro. The Canadian delegation will be led by Pat Ferns, (a co-developer of CoPro and moderator since its inception) and Ina Fichman, CEO, Intuitive Pictures. CoPro 13 will feature a Focus on Canada including a Tribute to Jean Pelletier, CBC/Radio Canada. The Canadian delegation will include producers, Canadian broadcasters and funding agencies.
PLANNED ITINERARY:
May 24 - a day trip to Jerusalem.
May 25 – a presentation on the Israeli documentary industry; pitching Canadian projects to Israeli producers, broadcasters and film foundations; private meetings, plus workshops from the Co-Productions Market.
May 26-27 - pitching Israeli projects to international broadcasters; plus private meetings.
